    Dinner Plans: Week 9

It's Week 9 of Dinner Plans and we're gearing up for a couple weeks of family time!

My sister is in town this weekend and we're relishing the time together. We managed a little one-on-one time over brunch and a double date at DiRosa with her beau (yay for respite care to take care of the kids so we could do this!). They head home tomorrow and, later this week, my parents will shortly follow. I love how after a couple of months of winter's slowness and moments of rest, we've got some family time on the agenda.

I've been buying bunches of winter greens as we lean into more seasonal ingredients versus buying the usual salad mix at the store. I love how the bitterness of the greens pair well with the bright and sweet citrus notes for winter salads and the braising method works for cozy winter meals using those hearty greens.

A few recipes I love for the season using these yummy greens:

    • Brown Butter Colcannon with Winter Greens
    • Creamy White Beans with Braised Rapini

    Dinner Plans for Week 9

Hard to believe we're now in March but with the recent rains in the North Bay I am looking forward to Spring coming into view. My parents arrive later in the week and cooking for family has become one of my absolute joys. My sister is here visiting with her boyfriend and tonight will be their final dinner with us before they head home tomorrow. I love ending the time spent together on a delicious note. I picked up steaks from the Fatted Calf and am using the last of our garden garlic to make a roasted garlic butter that will be perfect for the steaks. I've still yet to decide on a dessert for the meal but earlier in the week went ahead and work on a few different pie and tart fillings with the fruit I managed to stash in the freezer over summer.

Here’s what caught my attention in our garden, fridge, freezer, and pantry this week:

    • Rib eye steaks
    • Loads of carrots and potatoes
    • Dried Beans
    • Turkey Tenders in Freezer
    • Radicchio
    • Endive
    • Little Gems
    • Black Truffle
    • Arborio rice
    • A variety of seafood in freezer (shrimp, cod, squid)

Our Game Plan for Dinner this Week:

Sunday: Grilled Rib Eye Steaks with Roasted Garlic Butter, Braised Greens, and Potatoes

Monday: Roast Carrot Tart in Puff Pastry with Winter Greens Salad

Tuesday: Sopes with Rio Zape Beans, Turkey Chorizo, and Fresh Salsa

Wednesday: Oven Fried Turkey Tenders with Bitter Greens Salad

Thursday: Wild Mushroom Risotto with Shaved Black Truffle

    Friday: Cioppino with Garlic Toasts

Saturday: Pizza Picnic with Seasonal Pesto, Crispy Prosciutto and Burrata

From favorite recipes to new meal ideas using a wide variety of ingredients, cooking delicious food with our CSA definitely gets us out of a dinner rut while reducing food waste. I share meal ideas for our busy weeks with our weekly newsletter. Subscribe to our weekly newsletter to be in the know when they’re live. 😉
