    Dinner Plans: Week 7

It's Week 7 of Dinner Plans and we're leaning into one-pot wonders!

Some week I go through a stint on a particular dish type or cooking method. This week, it's all about one-pot comforts. I want something nourishing but without the mess of multiple pans to prep. Enter: one-pot wonders. From pasta to grains to braised dishes, I love that I can make the full main course using my Dutch oven or large braiser or sauté pan.

A few one-pot dishes I love for the season:

    • One Pot Orzo with Tomatoes and Zucchini
    • One Pot Pasta with Seasonal Veggies
    • Braised Beef Stew

    Dinner Plans for Week 7

In my continued effort to clear out the freezer I found two servings of turkey gravy from Thanksgiving. One will be used in a pot pie next week. The other will be used for a classic roast chicken with mashed potatoes this week. I've also got some puff pastry to use up so a few tarts will make their way to the week's menu.

Lent will begin this week for those honoring the season ahead. Fish will make its regular appearance on our menus for the weeks to come. Looking forward to the markers of a changing season that also signal to us Spring will soon be here.

Here’s what caught my attention in our garden, fridge, freezer, and pantry this week:

    • Ground Turkey
    • Freezer gravy
    • Puff Pastry
    • Autumn Frost Squash
    • Freezer broccolini
    • Jalapeños
    • Carrots
    • Freezer cod filets
    • Canned tomatoes
    • Tomato paste

Our Game Plan for Dinner this Week:

Sunday: Roast Chicken with Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, and Parmesan Broccolini

Monday: Roast Carrot Tart in Puff Pastry

Tuesday: Turkey Chili with Jalapeño Cheddar Biscuits

Wednesday: Slow Roasted Salmon with Herbed Compound Butter and Braised Lentils

Thursday: Cabbage Tart with Leeks and Caramelized Onion (recipe uses red cabbage, but that head of cabbage we have will still work here)

Friday: Mexican Fish Soup (Caldo de Pescado)

Saturday: Pizza with Crispy Thin Potatoes, Cabbage, Crumbled Italian Sausage, and Fontina

From favorite recipes to new meal ideas using a wide variety of ingredients, cooking delicious food with our CSA definitely gets us out of a dinner rut while reducing food waste. I share meal ideas for our busy weeks with our weekly newsletter. Subscribe to our weekly newsletter to be in the know when they’re live. 😉
