Dinner Plans: Week 43

It’s Week 43 of Dinner Plans and we’re relishing our latest CSA box!

The air is crisper now. The Saturday morning Napa Farmers Market was cool enough to don a beanie for the week’s shopping. The recent windy weather brushed off leaves from the trees that are all aglow in the colors of autumn. It’s truly been a treat as we experience our first autumn here in Napa.

DINNER PLANS FOR THE WEEK

This week we picked up our Riverdog Farm CSA share and I was thrilled for a few more tomatoes and the crunchiest Little Gems lettuce. Here’s a list of the fruits and vegetables we received:

Riverdog Farm:

  • Heirloom tomatoes
  • Little Gems Lettuce
  • Tokyo Turnips
  • Potatoes

I honestly appreciated the smaller share this week. We’re cooking through the last bits of produce from the previous week so this helps in planning our meals efficiently. I stopped at the farmers market for more tomatillos and fresh berries from Rodriguez Family Farms. Their strawberries and raspberries are the absolute best I’ve had and the kids are gobbling them up. For the tomatillos: I’m buying a pound or two per week. Then, I remove the husks and give them a quick rinse. Once dried, I store them in freezer safe bags to keep on hand for winter time salsa. By far my favorite seasonal cooking hack.

After picking up the CSA box I made a short list of produce to pick up at our weekly Napa Farmers Market. From tomatillos to peppers to loads of California berries, the week’s meals are going to be delicious.

My parents are also coming to visit! They arrive in town Friday and will stay through the weekend. The kids are thrilled and so am I! It’s been an adjustment being so far away from them. We’ve got a fun weekend planned for quality time. Bonus: my husband and I have a date night out planned! That said, you’ll see Friday and Saturday have dining out plans reserved. 😊

Here is our game plan for dinner this week:

Sunday: Classic Pot Roast with Potatoes and Carrots over Polenta

Monday: Radish and Turnip Tartines

Tuesday: Elote Inspired Brussels and Fire Roasted Corn Salad with Seared Flank Steak

Wednesday: Roast Vegetables Salad with Roast Turkey

Thursday: Ground Beef Stir Fry Rice Bowls with Stir Fry Veggies

Friday: Take Out at Home with Family ❤️

Saturday: Date Night Dinner Out in Napa ❤️

From favorite recipes to new things with a wide variety of ingredients, cooking delicious food with our CSA definitely gets us out of a dinner rut and reduce food waste. I share meal ideas for our busy weeks with our weekly newsletter. Subscribe to our weekly newsletter to be in the know when they’re live. 😉

Wishing you a nourishing week ahead. 🧡
