Dinner Plans: Week 7

It’s Week 7 of Dinner Plans and we are gearing up for more rain in the North Bay. It’s also Valentine’s Day Week and we’ll keep our family tradition of making pizza with the kids. I do have a lovely date night dinner planned for my husband and me once the kids go to bed.

Over the years, celebrating Valentine’s Day at home feels more enjoyable than trying to snag a dinner reservation though I am counting down to March where my parents will be in town which can only mean one thing: more date nights in Napa to explore all the great restaurants we have here.

Seasonal Cooking Tip: One-Pot Dishes Do Wonders

When it comes to seasonal cooking, this year I’m sharing a weekly tip here focused on preparing ingredients, preserving foods, and kitchen hacks that help you save time.

This week we’re talking about one-pot dishes that really can be wonderful both in meal prep and in the ease of enjoying a seasonal meal. I gravitate towards grilled proteins where I can add in seasonal vegetables or dishes where I can add a grain or pasta to soak up a sauce or braising liquid.

I love this one-pot orzo for summer time but it can still work in winter with seasonal greens like mustard, spinach, or even cabbage with mushrooms. The mushrooms add a heartiness and make for a great vegetarian option. Soups are also a great one-pot wonder and I love this One-Pot Beef Stew or Winter Veggie Soup for easy weeknights.

Dinner Plans for Week 7

We picked up our Riverdog Farm CSA box this week. We’ve got plenty of cauliflower and cabbage now that I’m swimming in ideas of what to do with them all. Cauliflower rice feels right this week alongside some fish tacos. I’m also thinking of a number of soup options as we plan for more rain later in the week.

Here’s what we picked up for our CSA shares this week:

Riverdog Farm:

  • Navel Oranges
  • 2 heads of Napa Cabbage
  • 2 pounds of Cauliflower
  • 1 pound Little Gems
  • Yellow Carrots

Our Game Plan for Dinner this Week:

Sunday: Braised Daikon Radish with Ground Beef and Rice Bowls

Monday: Roast Tomato Soup with Gruyere and Parmesan Toast

Tuesday: Tostadas with Chipotle Lime Cauliflower, Turkey Chorizo, and Refried Rio Zape Beans

Wednesday: Butternut Squash Soup (recipe inspo here)

Thursday: Baja Fish Tacos with Cauliflower Rice

Friday: Osso Buco with Risotto Milanese for Valentine’s Day Night In ❤️

Saturday: Pizza Picnic with Roast Tomato Sauce, Turkey Pepperoni, and Mushrooms

From favorite recipes to new things with a wide variety of ingredients, cooking delicious food with our CSA definitely gets us out of a dinner rut and reduce food waste. I share meal ideas for our busy weeks with our weekly newsletter. Finally, Subscribe to our weekly newsletter to be in the know when they’re live. 😉
