Dinner Plans: Week 4

It’s Week 4 of Dinner Plans and we are trying to keep warm and cozy during these frigid temperatures. It’s sunny and chilly here in the North Bay and that’s calling for all the nourishing and cozy soups and pasta dishes.

The Napa Truffle Festival was this weekend and the home cook in me was ecstatic to purchase one Périgord black truffle to enjoy for the week ahead. It was one of those Saturdays that showed me just how beautiful local food can be and how ridiculously grateful I am for the chance to live in Wine Country.

I picked up fresh pasta from Pasta Poetry at the Napa Farmers Market, a bottle of Napa Valley Cabernet from Outer Space Wine, and lardons from Browns Valley Market. A date night pasta is on the menu tonight once the kids are asleep.

Seasonal Cooking Tip: Soup’s On!

When it comes to seasonal cooking, this year I’m sharing a weekly tip here focused on preparing ingredients, preserving foods, and kitchen hacks that help you save time.

This week we’re talking about cozy, comforting soups. These are always great to make not just because it’s cold outside but because the winter time produce lends itself well to soups. Braising greens along with cruciferous veggies like cauliflower and broccoli help us to enjoy a nourishing bowl of soup while savoring the season’s best produce.

Here are a four soups I love to make on repeat throughout the season:

  • One Pot Beef Stew
  • Easy and Healthy Turkey Chili
  • Roast Carrot Soup with Harissa and Crispy Mushrooms
  • A Winter Vegetable Soup that’s super adaptable to whatever you have on hand

Dinner Plans for the Week

It was a double CSA box pickup with Stepping Stone Farm and Riverdog Farm this week. With a number of braising greens, broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots we’re thinking a mix of soups, pastas, and winter salads make for a nourishing week ahead.

Our Game Plan for Dinner this Week:

Sunday: Fresh Pasta with Black Truffles for a Date Night In ❤️

Monday: Roast Carrot Soup with Crispy Mushrooms

Tuesday: Chipotle Lime Glazed Savoy Cabbage with Mantequilla Beans

Wednesday: Roast Broccoli & Cauliflower Cheddar Soup

Thursday: Asian Inspired Chicken Salad with Napa Cabbage and Citrus Sesame Dressing

Friday: Chicken Caesar Salad with Focaccia Breadcrumbs and Shaved Parmesan

Saturday: Pizza with Fontina, Arugula and Shaved Truffle

From favorite recipes to new things with a wide variety of ingredients, cooking delicious food with our CSA definitely gets us out of a dinner rut and reduce food waste. I share meal ideas for our busy weeks with our weekly newsletter. Subscribe to our weekly newsletter to be in the know when they’re live. 😉
