24 Christmas Gift Ideas to Send by Mail for 2024

When it comes to the perfect choice for gifts, these are my recommendations for the 24 best Christmas gift ideas to send by mail to loved ones in 2024. I’ve always believed that the best holiday gifts are the ones that someone will love and enjoy long after the last carols have been sung or the final toasts to the end of year made. When it comes to finding the perfect gift, I’ve always loved finding thoughtful and intentionally curated gifts to give during the holiday season.

This year, I wanted to share ideas for the perfect present to give a family member or best friend in your life. For this Holiday and Christmas season I’ve grouped the gifts into four key categories: Foodie Finds, Home Chef, Sustainable Home, and Small Business Love. I curated food gifts that I have personally enjoyed. They are ones I think would make for an easy way to craft beautiful gourmet gift baskets or food baskets. I’ve also curated gift options the passionate home cook along with items that support small businesses I personally love and support through my own purchases of their items. Gift Guides are a plenty on the internet; I hope my offering helps you find something new to gift someone you love at your next Christmas party or holiday party.

I know that for most of what I share here at Cooking with Our CSA, it’s all about the recipes and ideas for cooking with the seasons. Best Holiday Gift Ideas for Foodies in Your Life

A few of these edible gifts are ones that will excite the taste buds for the foodies in your life. I’ve also included items that help make sweet treats and savory snacks all the more enjoyable. These gifts are also great for shipping so order in time for your Christmas gift delivery.

Foodie Gift Ideas that I Use and Love

  • For all the foodies out there, it’s highly likely they have a growing stack of gorgeous cookbooks somewhere in their home. I’ve got mine still packed in boxes post move and so I’ve added this to my wishlist too. This bookshelf has a super-small footprint measuring just 7.8 by 11.8 inches. It makes it a great pick to keep your favorite foodie’s treasured cookbooks. Cookbooks stay close without completely getting in the way of home chefs prepping their favorite recipes.
  • The Bean Book by Steve Sando and Julia Newberry:  For the foodie in your life, this is a cookbook must-have. From the founder of the famed Rancho Gordo bean company, Steve offers a comprehensive guide to 50 bean varieties. With tips on how to cook with them and featuring 100 classic and modern recipes, this is sure to become a classic for home chefs everywhere.
  • Chemex: We’ve had our Chemex pour over coffee maker for nearly a decade now and love it so much. For coffee enthusiasts looking to simplify their coffee routine while noting the distinct flavors of their favorite coffee beans, I can’t recommend this enough.

Foodie Finds for Gift Ideas that I Love

  • The Sandwich Shop Book: This is an item I’ve got on our list for Christmas gift baskets and it looks so fun! Recipe cards contain 50 recipes to handcraft some of your favorite sandwiches from across the world. Styled like a recipe box that looks like the ubiquitous sandwich shop or local deli, the cards have recipes that are classics I’ve loved and ones that inspire numerous ways to enjoy a carb-loaded vessel that holds all the delicious fillings we can imagine.
  • Popcorn Bowl with Kernel Separator: I put this on my own wish list as this is a clever accessory for Movie Nights. This handcrafted glazed stoneware bowl comes with a colander-inspired filter that sorts and sifts out any unpopped popcorn kernels. When not enjoying a popcorn filled movie night, this bowl doubles as a great centerpiece for displaying fresh fruits or even a floral arrangement with fresh flowers. I love the mult-functional aspects of this piece.
  • Olio Nuovo from The Olive Press: With sustainable practices that demonstrate intentional craft and care for the fruit they grow, The Olive Press was the first olive mill in Sonoma. Their Olio Nuovo is one I’m buying this year to gift to a couple of foodie friends. Olio Nuovo, or “new oil” is an Italian tradition the first olives harvested of the season are crushed to produce the first oil. It’s a vibrant green color that is also bursting with equally intense flavor. Use this as a finishing oil for dishes to enjoy the vibrant and unfiltered flavors. I can see this drizzled over fresh burrata and tomatoes as part of a summertime charcuterie board. A great addition to savor the present moment with friends over a glass of wine.

Best Holiday Gift Ideas: The Passionate Home Chef

This time of year is a great time to invest in kitchen tools and essentials that make meal prep all the most efficient and effective. A number of top brands are on sale during this season so if there is an item you’ve been eyeing, this is a great time to make your purchase. A few favorites that make for amazing Christmas gifts to send by mail for loved ones to open under the tree include:

Holiday Gift Ideas that Are Keen Investments for the Home Chef

  • Ice Cream Maker from Cuisinart: I received this as a Christmas gift about 4 years ago and I am honestly amazed at how often I use it. This ice cream maker is compact enough to store away or keep on the counter. I keep it there all summer as I make batches of my Vanilla Bean Ice Cream and other varieties the kids love.
  • Staub 5 quart Cocotte: An investment piece that will last for years to come, I absolutely adore my dutch oven. Our kitchen space is small so I just have one that I use several times a week. I’ll make a pot of beans, savory risottos, or large pots of soups and stews.
  • Miyabi 8-inch Chef’s Knife: The chef’s knife is essential for meal prep. Early on when I was learning to cook I thought I needed a full knife set. I remember buying a set at Bed, Bath & Beyond when I leased my first apartment. It was a great starting set, no doubt, but I realized I wasn’t using all the knives there. Fast forward 15 years later and the blades were starting to show signs of rust. As a birthday gift to myself, I purchased the Miyabai 8-inch chef’s knife at Williams Sonoma and have not looked back. The handling is ergonomic and comfortable to handle the toughest of chopping tasks (butternut squash, I’m looking at you.). The blade stays impeccably sharp. The hammered finished affords a texture that is both beautiful to admire while also remaining functional as produce does not stick to the blade when chopped. My knife collection now consists of this knife, a set of steak knives, and this double-serrated bread knife. The only other knife I think I would want to add to the knife block would be a paring knife. Currently deciding between staying with Miyabi or choosing from this one or this option.

Gift Ideas for the Home Chef that Are Everyday Powerhouses

  • Vitamix Blender: From smoothies to soups, sauces, and salsas, this blender is a workhorse in the kitchen. Stay tuned for major Cyber Monday sales where this blender can be found for 30% off. Another great option that we had before we were gifted a Vitamix was the Ninja Blender. This one is also a great option for high-performance and high-powered blending. For smaller spaces, an immersion blender is also a fabulous tool to have on hand.
  • Demeyere Sauté Pan: You’ll find few pots or pans in heavy use apart from this 5 quart sauté pan. It’s another workhorse of a tool that makes one-pot meals so easy from small batch risottos to chicken and rice. High sides on the pan means no vegetable spills occur during cooking. The absence of rivets on the inside also means you won’t find food stuck in the crevices during cleanup. It’s also on major sale right now at Sur La Table. If you’ve been looking to upgrade your cookware, I’d start with this piece.
  • Essential Apron from Hedley & Bennett: It’s no secret I’m building a robust collection of these amazing aprons. The high-quality fabrics, adjustable straps, and impeccable stitching makes me feel like a bad-ass everytime I slip one on to meal prep. No matter the cooking task, these aprons are designed to last after being relentlessly designed for over a decade now. Female-founder, Ellen Marie Bennett, has built an incredible brand to elevate our everyday cooking. With so many designs and colors to choose from, it’s easy to find an apron for the home chef in your life. I’ve also got my eye on the kids’ aprons too with this one and this one on the list for the kids.

Best Holiday Gift Ideas: Sustainable Home

A number of readers asked for gift ideas for the sustainable home and I LOVED this idea. Each of these items will make a great addition to the home and are reusable in the best ways. Here are items we’re loving and gifting this year:

Gift Idea Items I’ve Purchased and Love

  • Stylish compost bin for the kitchen: I bought this one as soon as our county began implementing the green waste sorting. It looks pretty enough to keep on the counter. it also discretely conceals our food scraps that do not go into the Lomi. The replaceable carbon filter in the lid also helps to reduce unwanted smells. We mostly use this to hold avocado pits and anything else that can’t effectively break down in our countertop composter.
  • Lomi Composter: We bought the first-generation Lomi composter back in June and I honestly don’t know what took us so long. It’s AMAZING. Our lot size is small. While we’re making the most of it in creating our own urban garden, traditional composting can pose a bit of a challenge. With the Lomi Countertop Composter we significantly reduce the amount of food waste our household contributes over the course of a year. I’m currently tracking how much food waste we’re saving in our first year with Lomi. Be on the lookout for that blog post next summer. Shop either the Classic or Bloom version and save in the Early Black Friday deals.
  • Ovalware Reusable Pour Over Coffee Filter: After years of using the unbleached filters, this reusable filter from Ovalware has been amazing. No more needing to remember to run to the store to pick up more filters that may or may not be compostable. This is easy to use and easy to clean. This is a great addition to the morning coffee set up.

Sustainable Gift Idea Items I Love

  • Bee’s Wrap Food Wraps: Reusable food wraps means we don’t need to use plastic wrap as much or at all. I love the different sizes available to wrap leftover produce. One of my favorite options is the Bees and Bears print. It looks so lovely when storing halves of onions or avocados in the refrigerator for another day’s use.
  • Rocketbook Notebook: This is one I am thinking of getting for our oldest this year. A reusable digital notebook that can transfer notes and documents to the computer is a great alternative to paper notebooks. Once you’ve compiled your notes, scan them then wipe them off with a cloth and water and voilà! Clean “pages” to use again and again.
  • Reusable Produce Bags from Uncommon Goods: I love a fun bag for holding produce! When shopping the farmers markets and these produce bags from Uncommon Goods are so delightful. These 100% cotton sacks let you sort your fruits and vegetables on the spot. A bonus: they also make it easy to deduct the bag’s weight from your purchase, thanks to the tare information.

Best Holiday Gift Ideas from Small Businesses We Love

My husband and I are both small business owners. I know how much it means to us when someone opts to spread some holiday cheer by making a purchase. When I wrote this guide I wanted to showcase a number of small businesses that I love supporting. The below businesses include a couple we’ve purchased from and love. I am also sharing a couple of gift ideas handcrafted from small business. All of the ones here handcraft their products right here in the USA.

Small Business Brands I love

  • Diana Throw from Seek & Swoon: Jala Smith-Huys is the founder, shop owner, and “Chief Blanket Boss” behind the brand Seek & Swoon. I came to learn of her work making the the best knit throw blankets. After learning about her story, I bought our first blanket, Baile, and immediately fell in love. These blankets offer a comforting weight and cozy warmth. Seek & Swoon was the first blanket brand I would use to curl up with the kids each night reading books before bed. It wouldn’t be long before we would add the Diana throw to the mix. I’ve got my eye on the Anywhere throw, the Sol throw, and the Aloha Ombré Throw this year. Over the years, I’ve had the joy of getting to know Jala as she and my husband worked together crafting keepsake boxes for her line of baby throw blankets. Her intentionality behind designing and producing each blanket is evident in everything she does. Each knit throw blanket is made in the USA from recycled yarn. Jala partners with a second generation, family-owned knitting mill that’s just as committed to comfort, quality and design as she is.
  • Handmade ceramics from Campfire Pottery: Kristen Camp and her team handcraft every piece you’ll see on their online storefront. We’ve purchased a couple of their snack bowls. They have been perfect for morning cereal or yogurt and their soup bowls hold generous portions. We are slowly building our dinnerware collection with a few of their salad plates. We also use them for entree portions for our familia of four. The links for Campfire Pottery are not affiliates. I love their work so much I wanted to share them with you here.
  • Luxury Linen Napkins from Huddleson: These Love Heart Napkins were such a lovely addition to our Valentine’s Day table setting last year. I’m working my way to building a collection of linen napkins that help to elevate our everyday dinner table. There is something so delightful about setting the table for dinner. As my kids grow older I really love to see them help take out the linens and set the table. It’s so great as we can gather together over a delicious meal. Huddleson is a luxury linen company based in San Marino, CA. Tim Gledhill, is the founder and owner of Huddleson. This contemporary company crafts luxury linens made from the finest Italian linen fabrics.

Small Business Finds

  • Handcrafted Mugs: I love handcrafted items so much. They add such a thoughtful element to gift giving and home decor. These beautiful mugs start as flat pieces of clay. Self-taught pottery slab builder, Colleen Huth, presses the outsides with real flowers and a custom dragonfly. She folds them and leaves an organic edge. The black silhouettes rest against a natural cream glaze. This result evokes the feeling of drawings from an artist’s sketchbook. These mugs are a one-of-a-kind gift for a tea lover or friend who’d love to get lost in the wildflowers.
  • Handmade Berry Colander: Items that demonstrate both form and function are also top on our list. This ceramic berry colander is handmade in Pennsylvania. This colander is genius with a drip catcher and spout to make for easy cleanup. It’s beautiful to keep displayed on the kitchen counter for when berry season makes it delightful return.
  • Handcrafted Herb Drying Rack: This is a wonderful showpiece to help display cut flowers and herbs to dry. Handcrafted in Tennessee, it’s a showstopper of a piece. I’m confident it will make for a great addition to any kitchen.
