It’s Week 10 of Dinner Plans and we are getting a sneak preview of spring produce!
I could tell by the heavy weight of this week’s CSA box that we were going to be in for some treats. We, indeed, were! The first of the kumquats arrived along with more blood oranges and plenty of Meyer lemons for delicious marinades and marmalades. Cabbage is in abundance now and with St. Patrick’s Day not far off in the distance, Colcannon is a dish I love preparing this time of year to make good use of this vegetable.
Dinner Plans for the Week
We have loads of leafy greens for salads and the creamiest avocados for taco night. With carrots, potatoes, and cabbage in tow we’ve got plenty of nourishing vegetables for comforting dishes in these final winter nights. I’m working on a few recipes for the kumquats for my fellow Sage Mountain Farm CSA members. Stay tuned for a couple sweet and savory ideas for this bright and tart citrus.
Our Game Plan for Dinner this Week:
Sunday: Dinner out while picking up Jerry from the airport. Oh, we missed him so! ❤️
Monday: Grated Beet and Carrot Salad with the addition of cooked Marcella Beans
Tuesday: Oyster Mushroom Tacos, Carnitas Style (a riff off my 4-ingredient slow cooked pork)
Wednesday: Roast Turkey Breast with Braised Cabbage (recipe idea from Food & Wine)
Thursday: Pan Seared Pork Chops with a Kumquat-Jalepeño Chutney (I’ve been wanting to make a sweet, tart, and slightly spicy jam/chutney/preserve; very excited to cook up what’s in my head with this one!)
Friday: Baja Fish Tacos with Quick Cabbage Slaw (I love this quick pickled cabbage idea too)
Saturday: Pizza with Caramelized Onion Jam, Fontina, and Butternut Squash
From favorite recipes to new things with a wide variety of ingredients, cooking delicious food with our CSA definitely gets us out of a dinner rut and reduce food waste. I share meal ideas for our busy weeks with our weekly newsletter. Subscribe to our weekly newsletter to be in the know when they’re live. 😉
Wishing you a nourishing week ahead. 🧡
