Dinner Plans: Week 52

It’s Week 52 of Dinner Plans and it’s the last one for 2023!

Fifty-two weeks of meal plans and dinner ideas come to the finish line for this year. I’ve so enjoyed sharing the meal plans and recipe ideas each week with you as we support our local farms and farmers through our weekly CSA delivery. So many of you message me sharing how helpful and inspiring these meal plan ideas have been. I’m so grateful for you being here and look forward to sharing more inspiring recipes in 2024!

Our Farmer’s Market was closed today so that meant no CSA box pickup. Thankfully, we have a bit produce in the freezer and in our pantry bins so we’re set for the week!

Seasonal Cooking Tip: Enjoying that Post Holiday Glow

The cookies have been baked and gifts delivered to friends, family, and neighbors. This week we will enjoy cozy soups and stews, comforting risottos, and homemade pasta as we enjoy some time off between work and school schedules.

The freezer is definitely our friend as I dug out the last of our summer tomatoes and will use that to make some roast tomato sauce for pizzas and pastas over the next week and a half. I’ve got freezer jams and compotes for some quick buttermilk scones to make for simple but satisfying breakfasts. We’ll pick up some salad mix at the grocer and some extra carrots for kid snacks and hearty soups.

PS: don’t forget to check out Part I and Part II of my Pantry Essentials Series for more tips and recommendations for keeping a well stocked pantry ahead of the holiday season.

Dinner Plans for the Week

Our family caught another cold (thanks Kindergarten class) and that means we’re home again for a quiet holiday. Soups are definitely on the menu for the week ahead as we navigate gnarly head colds and try to enjoy the last days of winter break. I didn’t take out any holiday meats like turkey or ham. When I asked my family what they were craving, lasagna came up often as a response so that will be our dinner at home for Christmas. Not how we planned it, but it will still be a delicious week of nourishing plans for dinner.

Our Game Plan for Dinner this Week:

Sunday: Steak Frites for Christmas Eve Dinner

Monday: Lasagna Bolognese (using Giada’s Recipe)

Tuesday: One Pot Tender Beef Stew

Wednesday: Pasta with Sausage, Peas, and Roast Tomato Sauce

Thursday: Easy Turkey Chili

Friday: Pasta with Broccoli and Sundried Tomatoes

Saturday: Pizza with Caramelized Onions, Mushrooms, and Fontina

Sunday: New Year’s Eve Dinner at Home with Herby Mushroom Risotto and lots of snacks as we wait for the ball to drop in Times Square at 9pm PST because parenthood means early bedtimes for all. 😉

From favorite recipes to new things with a wide variety of ingredients, cooking delicious food with our CSA definitely gets us out of a dinner rut and reduce food waste. I share meal ideas for our busy weeks with our weekly newsletter. Subscribe to our weekly newsletter to be in the know when they’re live. 😉

Wishing you a nourishing holiday week ahead. 🧡
